The upcoming emissions standard is .20 grams per mile of NOx, the current standard is 1 gram per mile, and the entire manufacturer's fleet has to be less than .07 grams per mile, so the diesel mix would have to be about as thin as it is now in order to prevent GM from accidentally going over the limit and getting slapped with a CAFE fine. I guess that pre-05 models will be grandfathered in, though.
