My understanding is that there is about a 4% difference between the two. I would be surprised if the dealer is going to massage the deal anymore than accepting the discount on such a hot vehicle. You would always be better selling outright but you are correct that they may try to lowball you since you are getting the discount. You might try going to someplace like CarMax and see what they will give you for it. I sold a car to them a year of so ago and they gave me top dollar even though I wasn't buying anything from them.
