well breaks down like this... tires are rubber and plastic. High mile tires are higher plastic content... great they last forever, but don't grip for ****, specially on ice and wet surfaces. Rubber you get better grip but wear out faster. Aggressive tread designs work great offroad, but are like sitting on a locomotive cattle guard hauling down the freeway depending on how aggressive the tread. Trick is to figure out what you want, to get the best of both worlds... leaning to what your priorities are regarding looks and functionality.
