Now, I have to think, again.
Is it worth losing 1" of clearance, when I only have 32" tires?
KenP's idea may be a better alternative; specifically:

Don't forget, if the skid plate is keeping the big rocks away from your undercarriage, it's also keeping lots of mud away from the pressure washer and out of site. You'd be surprised how much mud can accumilate ontop on things under there! It will pack up under there and eventually cause lots of heat build up! If you do make the skid plates, make them easily removable, maybe a rivets, and not welded.
