Hey All,
So I searched and couldn't find threads on getting your spare up/down from a roof rack, especially something that is a little bigger/heavier than stock. Anybody point me to a link or two?
Thanks!

Congrats, I heard you're up for an Emmy.

Lordy Lordy. Then I better get to the gym. Gotta be able to balance and military press, oh what 150-175 lbs 7.5 feet over my head....Damn. On second thought, I could go the "hammer throw" route, spin like a whirling dervish and just launch it up there. Ooo....That's even harder.
As far as the emmy, well thank you for the compliments. They say good "actors" are inspired from all sorts of motivations... If DRTY calls me a non Hummer owning troll again, then we could see a repeat performance.

Ok....Good info. I'll need to "practice" in my driveway BEFORE I need to do it. There might be occasions where I'm the only one who can really help and I need to know I can at least get the flat into the back of the truck, which shouldn't be a problem.
Off the the gym to practice my 37 inch tire lifting skills....

Just deflate the tire before lifting it. That should save 40-50 pounds of air.

I'm kidding, btw.
One time I was shipping some wheels and tires by UPS and they were overweight. The UPS DRIVER actually told me to deflate them and that would save 30-40 pounds of air.

I plan on having help get it up to the top, then using a rope (and a blanket) if I ever have to get it down. Once it's on the ground it becomes a road hazard cuz I can't lift it over my head. I was barely able to get it onto the spare tire carrier I had on my car for a week. I could probably get it in the back of the H2 if there wasn't always something back there. Just make sure it doesn't roll down into a ditch, or off a cliff or something when you let it down.

If you have a Gobi Rack/ Ladder: Role it up the ladder so you don't bust your stop lamp.
If you have a tow strap, run in through the rim.
Or Alec's way works too.

I don't know about getting the spare on/off the roof, but when H2Blondie and I had to get it off of the standard '05 rear carrier, it was quite enough work!
I believe I have found the need (and justification) for onStar in the future -- especially should I be alone and need to change one of those beasts! (Yes, I can say whimp!)

Here's the best part about having the spare on the roof. Especially if it's a 37" spare.
Take the truck to a shop and have them change it. The air's newer in that one.... Whatever.
Then watch them...
