new ticking sound coming from engine

Try removing accessory drive belt and start the truck and see if noise goes away, if it does start rotating all accessories and pulleys by hand. feel for any rough spots, loose pulleys and of course for the noise. Yep, that's how mine sounded just before the belt busted due to a bad tensioner pulley.
Thought I was gonna have to replace the A/C pulley too, but got lucky with just the tensioner.
I'd check 'em right away, since a busting belt could jack your shiit up if it happens when the hood is open, and engine is running!
