I meant high tide when the ocean gets way up on the beach and you are forced in the ruts.

My family had a beach house there and it is all 4x4- no asphalt. So you had to wheel to get groceries etc. So if you got caught coming home or leaving at high tide the trip would take twice as long. Airing down the moving truck to get our furniture there was pretty weird.

I used to practically live out there when I could. I haven't been down there in a long time. I heard that some jerks have been shooting the wild horses. And that it has really been built up. My Mom decided to live there full time and did back in 1999-2002, but then sold it when the houses started cropping up everywhere.

But yeah, the shacks and trailers on stilts way back there- FREAKY.

Still, it is a cool place.

The horses are so tame, it sucks that anyone would shoot them. And now I know what you are referring to with the tides, last year I only drove in the ruts and it takes 2 or 3 times longer to get anywhere. This year I was only out once at high tide.

example of the sand trails that go back from the ocean:

a trailer with the windows painted over, there were much scarier looking places but I didn't want to get shot!:

the other extreme of dune houses, straight outta Miami!
