For those of you who love in or near grizzly country, you should probably read the following:
MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME ADVISORY ON BEARS
Helena Montana, May 15, 2006
In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Montana Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert for bears while in the field. "We advise that outdoorsmen should wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them," a spokesman said. "We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear".
It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear paw prints and scat.
A grizzly's paw is larger and its claws are longer than that of a black bear. Black bear scat contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly scat has little bells in it and smells like pepper.

Have you ever been bear hunting with a Bow?

Black Bears can be ferocious too.

Only time I had the opportunity to go bear hunting was in the fall of '04 after I finally drew my bear permit in Colorado. Unfortunately, I moved here in August and couldn't go back that early in my job.
Where can you hunt bear around here? I'd love to go, but I've never even shot a compound bow. So, I'm probably not a good candidate.

Come over here to Va. Beach, we'll throw back a couple and I'll have Kenny run around the yard and we can practice.

I may be setting up a hunt within the next few months. A guy at work has a buddy that hunts BlackBear, and mentioned he will get me his number so we can get set up! He says he brings in some weigh as much as 450-500lbs.
I've got 2 buds from Texas coming in for a hunt, and anyone else that may be interested is welcome! Still in the talking stages, but it's never too soon to start planning!
