Re: Gms discount, how to get it
For GMS, you must be a GM employee or a relative (sibling, mother/father, including outlaws, child, including step children, etc.)
What you are probably talking about is GMID, or Supplier Discount. GMID (GM in the Driveway) is a discount any GM employee can obtain for anyone, other than those eligible for GMS. GMID discount is the same as a supplier discount. Employees are allotted only two GMIDs per month.
For a GM employee to give a GMID discount, the person must send the GM employee their last four digits of the social security number and date of birth, along with a valid email address.
The SSN and DOB are compared by the dealer with the dealer system to verify the GMID number is issued to that person. The valid email address is required for the authorization number to be sent to the person from the GM site.
The other thing you have to confirm is that the dealer will accept a GMID, it is up to the dealers to accept this discount, they are not required to by GM (same goes for GMS discounts to the employees).
If you are interested, send me an email with your last four of your SSN, DOB to my private email account. PLEASE call your dealer first to make sure they will accept the discount. As long as the GM system is up and running this holiday weekend, I can get you one. However, Holiday weekends are notorious for EDS to perform system upgrades, and sometimes the system is not up and running until the Holiday is over; which means I could not send one out until Tuesday.

Hummer, I replied to your PM.
For the record, I am on the same page with f5fstop's post above. I have no problem issuing a GMID number for people but it's not worth the risk trying to slip a GMS discount to non-family, etc.

Re: Gms discount, how to get it
How much does this GMID number take off the MSRP? I'm looking at getting a 07 H3 when they come out.
Is this the best way to get a good deal? I will pay cash for the H3 and I have a 02 Avalanche that I will trade in ($15K trade in value).

You may have to wait to get a discount on an 07 H3. Most dealers will not look at discounting the new model until old model (2006) inventory is depleted.

True, but a lot depends on where you live. In the MI area, you can get GMID on a new model, regardless of what is in stock. One way for sure, is to have the dealer order one, that way it does not deplete his stock '07 vehicles.
