H3 Hummer is off the scale
Default Re: H3 and Snow?

I have drove the H3 to a ski resort a couple of times. Pretty good amount of snow about 2 - 3 feet in two days. The H3 did really well at that time - the only problem I noticed is that this beast is heavy and at the first stopping be prepared.

On two seperate occasions I took the H3 off-roading and encountered snow on the trails. The H3 did bad - well considering it is a Hummer it did bad. The lugs got filled up with snow and the only thing the tires did were spin and melt the snow worse just spinning in place. WannabeH3 and I both had to back up and try several times to get through this section. We had to throw tree branches down and rocks and so forth. In my opinion I really think it was due to the conditions and tires not the H3. The H3 is great for snow and off-roading but I think the lugs (33 inch tires) need to be a little bigger to clean out some nasty snow. So analysis - buy the H3 it will be fine but maybe get some studs if your state will allow you, snow tires, or mud terrains. Fresh snow or maybe snow on streets seems to ok pretty good - offroding + old snow (turned to ice) ='s bad traction.
