How to buy the right revolver

I disagree. A revolver is great for a novice that's using it as a home defense weapon. Just point and pull, and pull, and pull, and pull. No worries.

With that said, I doubt CP could pick up the S&W .357 with two hands.

Like Ken said, with revolvers just keep pulling the trigger.

No matter how good that SIG is, it is only as good as each individual round. A gun novice is much better off with a revolver. No need to know how to recover from a jam or dud round.

That's why I believe it's better for a novice.

FWIW, I love my Glock, Taurus and other autos. But the revolver seems to be a good fit for a person not willing to learn all the in's and out's.

Disregarding the video, since as Bully 13 states, that is one in 6 billion, I will say yes, I'm faster with my SIG. Just the fact that most revolvers are six rounds, many are five round, and they are a pain to perform a tactical reload, compared to a magazine. So, after eight rounds, I can drop the mag and reload another 7 round mag a lot faster.
I have used semi-autos for over 40 years, and if kept clean, and you use reliable ammo, I have never had a misfire or a jam. Only time I have ever had a jam is on the firing range when experimenting with target ammo.

I only put the video link in my message to show what can be done with a revolver, and to stir up this thread.

There are other considerations in this debate as well. Would a novice know to turn off the safety? Would the novice hold the gun securely in order to have the gun cycle the action properly?

No matter how you slice it, a pistol is a more complicated piece of machinery. In an emergency situation involving a novice the KISS principle prevails.

I can't disagree that a revolver is pretty much idiot proof. Open the cylinder, load the ammo, close the cylinder, point and shoot; and cleaning is a lot easier.
