Heh..I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into when I registerd.. I'll own being the FNG..For awhile

Well I just got off the phone with my dealer. Strange but true they are getting me both Gobi racks at over $500. less than the closest competition quoted me. Deliverd.

When I pick up the truck on Monday I will make the final order on the racks and have them dropped shipped to my house..

Now I guess my question would be about the mounting specifics of the 2 differant roof racks I am looking at. The dealers says the GHSUTTSR2 mounts to the roof rails and the GHSUTTSR4 mounts to the cross bars.

Does anyone know the particulars on these 2 monting systems? Like pro's Con's of mounting on the rails or cross bars.

I am pretty sure I want the GHSUTTSR2 rack so it mounts lower and the air dam will work better. But I dont really know yet.

I will be on the road tomorrow for the drive to the dealership.. 1200 mile one way drive..

Any info about these racks would really help.

Using the longer brackets allow you to keep the crossbars on and the rack will sit just on top of them. The rack is still held into place by the rail mounts. Your dealer is wrong.

I've seen pics of trucks with the 4" mounts without the crossbars and frankly, the truck looks funny to me. I'd go with the 2" mounts.

Thxs Ken..Thats what I was thinking..so the 2" it is.

Dug, I'm up in the mountains of the high desert in NV..I was afraid of dealing with the 2 dealers in this state and desided to find an out of state dealer for my truck. Once I get it home im sure the drive will have been worth it...

Well all , I'm on the road in the am to get my SUT.

Thanks to this forum and all who post!

With out this info I would have not been able to make an educated decition about this truck and its options. I was lucky enough to find this truck with every factory option other than (black leather) that I wanted in the colour I was looking for. So lets just say I'm stoked!

Once I get the racks in, I will post pics of before and after the racks are installed..

Once again thanks for edumacatin me about the H2.. heh

What, you don't trust Towbin?

Chop, chop... I do like that show, though.
