People don't read before posting.

You would still be able to respectfully burn your flag in a solemn ceremony when your flag is unfit for service, or you can take it to your local VFW and they will do it. Be sure to leave them a donation.

I wonder if you would still be able to respectfully burn your flag in a solemn ceremony when your flag is unfit for service, or take it to your local VFW

Would you support a flag burning ban? My POV...yes for the above mentioned application.

For any other protest BS...expect an @ss kicking contest to break out in our "redneck of the woods"

I saw your earlier post and appreciate the info. But I figured a blanket constitutional ban on flag burning could call a flag-burning ceremony into question, which would be a shame.

The ammendment:
Quote:
The Congress shall have power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_Burning_Amendment
Quote:
This proposed amendment was intended to give Congress the right to enact statutes criminalizing the burning or other desecration of the United States flag in a public protest.
"Public Protest" are the key words I think.

Also, in the ammendment are the words "physical desecration".
Quote:
des?e?crate
tr.v. des?e?crat?ed, des?e?crat?ing, des?e?crates
To violate the sacredness of; profane.
A sacred, solomn ceremony isn't profane.

So if I crapped on the flag, rubbed it all over my body, then used it as toilet paper to wipe my dirty a$$, but didn't burn it, would that be against the law?

ps-I'm opposed to a ban, but I'd also like a ban on punishing people for expressing their opinions by kicking the azz of the fukers who burn the flag, if that makes any sense...

You would not get in trouble for that. The bill says "dececration", not "defecation".

I don't know what dececration means, but it sounds bad. Must be worse than crapping and using as TP
