Usually, when coming down from a cruise, if the EGR sticks open, the vehicle will stall. Carbon buildup will keep it from closing many times, just remove, knock off the carbon.

This has nothing to do with the cylinder head issue.

f5fstop, if my truck was build 17-18th April 06 (at least thats what is on all the stickers -on ctrl arms and engine bay etc) - does that mean that the new hardened valve guides are in?

In other words, is there a longer delay between egine production and truck assembly ?

Needless to say, engine are built before the truck is assembled. They are manufactured in Tonawanda, NY, tested and shipped to Shreveport for assembly into a H3 or Colorado/Canyon.
There is a date code on the engine...at the rear of the camcover, hard to see, without a mirror.
