Alternate t-cases have been put in H2s, i know stallion customs does it when they do the diesel conversion. But, in a million years, you'll never save enough money on gas to pay for the new T-case and the exchange.

Full time 4wd does impair mileage, but 9mpg is very low, and almost definitely the product of heavy stop n go traffic or a lead foot. I realize that the H2s mileage suffers from weight and aerodynamics, and a huge engine, but the mileage of an H2 relative to a Yukon with the same driver is 1-2mpg difference tops (i base this on personal experience. i get about 14.5 in normal day to day driving with an H2 and got 15.1 in a few weeks with an Escalade loaner vehicle, very similar to a yukon. it was a 2wd escalade).

-accelerate slower. The H2 is a slow truck, and that is sort of compounded by the throttle (which is a drive-by-wire system). A yukon or Escalade is much more easily driven faster if fast driving suits your taste. My mileage above is probably tainted a bit by the quicker escalade being driven a bit quicker, so maybe 1-2 mpg better than the hummer if i'd have driven it as slow.
-coast to stops
-go 70 instead of 75 (probably worth about 1mpg per 5mph on the highway)

Or buy a yukon? They're nice vehicles and have more cupholders than the H2, which is a nice perk. That might be my only real complaint about the Hummer - lack of cupholders. How can one be expected to get by with 2? Yukons just lack all the stuff tha tmakes a hummer so fun - the redesigned frame and TCS and lockers and personalized transfer case and the rest of the stuff that let a hummer get silly out in the slop... But if you don't offroad, a yukon is really nice.

lets see 4mpg more per gallon 32 gal.= 128 more miles/14mpg ,roughly 9gal times $3.00 a gal.is $27per tank saved times 52 ,tank a week is $ 1404.00 enough to make it worth while if my math is correct

Sounds like a big PITA!

You drive a HUMMER! Deal with bad mpg.

If it's not good enough, go over the Prius boards. I bet they have some fuel saving ideas for you.

I guess you didn't see the very nice "wink" at the end of Tim's post. That means he was joking.

Fstop, I agree with you anyway. I don't know how he can expect to see a 5mpg increase with just the front end. Also, his driving must not be a carefull as he thinks as I get nearly the same as him with the lift and tires.

Whatever. He's gone.
