Street bling makes more money, yo. That's why we probably won't ever see a REAL HUMMER with a SFA and all the offroad goodies Jeep is putting into their new rigs.

Re: Do the new hummer h2 come with Goodyears?
You guys might as well sell em, and get a Denali! I getting 14.1 mpg now and my Goodyears are very quiet. Oh yeah, the mirrors fold better, it has more cargo space, holds 7 CD's and to top it off it has DRL's and driving lights.

Good for you it sounds like you made the right decision for your non offroading, mileage caring, bling liking self! Now Go to the denali forum and get them all to pat you on the back as well! Way to go you are way smarter than all of us DUMMER owners! Oh and when you want to take it to moab or tellico, give me a call, I would love to see its "capability" out on the trails.

Re: Do the new hummer h2 come with Goodyears?
on the topic of the tires and not my off topic chatter, much like the "i want one of these" thread and associated, its a shame they didn't opt for something like toyos, at least as an option. That would save many folks a chunk of change

Re: Do the new hummer h2 come with Goodyears?
I saw the tires at Homecoming in July. I asked the Hummer person why they made the change, because I said they looked stupid. She said it's the global tire for the H2, and they wanted (for whatever the hell reason) to have the same tire on the domestic H2. WTF? GFY Supremely Hard for making such a dumbass desicion. The A/T TA's got laughs from the H1 elite, these new tires will surely be the butt end of many jokes.

Re: Do the new hummer h2 come with Goodyears?
In pictures the new GYs look like minivan tires. But in person they're not bad. The tread isn't bad at all. I'm curious to see how they'd perform on snow and ice.

Re: Do the new hummer h2 come with Goodyears?
I just got the bible of 4X4 catalogues (almost 1,200 pages of supplier & product listings), and the amount of stuff in there for Jeeps is staggering... and the amounts of items in there for Hummers is not worth mentioning unless your blinging your rigs. One thing for sure is that the H3 will soon surpass the H2 in aftermarket items, the market is responding very favorably to the owners of those units.

Re: Do the new hummer h2 come with Goodyears?
well, to offer some counter to the indictment of the H2 for its independent front suspension
-i think the H1 guys originally ragged on the H2 for not having 4-wheel IDS, no? Real hummers have 4-wheel IDS and so forth?
-sometimes solid axles in the front aren't so great (or the back for that matter). Just a simple example would be that driving through some tall grass in my jeep while a friend followed in the H2, i took an awful blow to axle that was just a poke at the skid plate on the H2. Tall grass, couldn't see the rock. In an H1, you'd have just plopped on by with nothing at all. If the H2 had the same clearance as it has now, but IDS both places, it wouldn't have required any caution.
I know that isn't the kidn of wheeling that you've said you prefer, phil (i think i've seen you post that you liked rock crawling the best), and this isn't some competitive thing or whatever else, but i think its insanely relaxing to just mosey (sp?) around the country where pickups fear to tread. Its alot less relaxing when you also fear to tread.
I built a little strap-on "warning" thing for the front skid that is just lower than the rear diff's clearance to kind of give warning for the tiems you have to pamper the solid rear diff when in tall brush or grass. If a rock that threatens the rear is present, it hits that (hopefully) to warn you to be careful. I can post a picture if anybody cares.
Also, in snow i can't imagine an H2 has any chance of keeping up with an H1 due to lower clearance and more stuff to drag (the rear axle), and more weight. I don't mean 2" of snow making sort of muddy stuff, i mean 2 feet (edit by my coworkers request: 2 feet or more of packed drifts) of drifted snow you have to whale your way through.
And again, snow might not mean anything to you guys, but it will ultimately define for me whether my H2 is good or just ok offroad in my eyes.
Hence i simply offer that i'm not entirely sad about having IFS. And i like the ride quality.
