If it has tires or testicles, you're going to have trouble with it

Re: I need a tent
The Deluxe Truck/SUV Vestibule connects a six- or eight-person Alaskan Guide Model? tent to the back of your truck or SUV, allowing you to move back and forth without being exposed to the elements. Heavy-duty 70-denier 190T nylon rip-stop fabric with a 1,500mm waterproof coating. 1" diameter steel poles on each side provide support. Strap on top of the vestibule can attach to the vehicle roof rack. Adjustable nylon web straps and elastic bands cinch up the entrance around most all trucks or SUVs. Zippered "T"-style door on side for easy entrance. Heavy-duty YKK? zippers. Clear, crack-resistant window. Includes stuff sack. Imported.
Color: Green.
Doesn't come in chrome ....

That's the same Alaskan Guide tent with a different vestibule. It became available after I got the other one. For my own (already admittedly insane) preferences, I think the SUV one looks cooler than it is functional. It's not going to be as sturdy at the arch-shaped one, and the only advantage to me would be loading, unloading the vehicle in a hurricane. It would be very useful though if one wanted to off oneself with carbon monoxide.

Yeah, I can see it now. "Honey, I'm just going to run the car for a while and warm up the tent."
I did go to REI and get a tent called the Base Camp 6, brought it home and put it up, and realized that the one in the bag was actually a Hobitat or something. I had to take it back down and go all the way back downtown and return it.
Then I went to Sportsmans Warehouse (similar to but smaller than Cabelas) and purchased a Kelty tent.
Here's the pic:
These things are a pain to put up! Especially for one person with two little kids trying to get in it the whole time
It's way bigger than I expected. And the material seems so thin! I'm used to Army canvas that weighs a couple hundred pounds. Guess I better get with the time, eh?
