I am serious about going. What route are you taking down there H2 Rocks!? Definitely want to know more details!

Are you still planning on going?
I-5 = 607 miles and roughly 10 hrs (prolly more like 8 or 9)
I-5 is definitely faster, and cut over to Chico and head down the highway to Auburn and across to Georgetown. Bebe, does that sound like the best way to avoid traffic delays?
The shortest route on the map is straight down highway 395 to Redding and then down thru Chico and over. Calculates to 587 miles and 11 hrs on the GPS. I know this route is slower with more windie roads. (is windie a word? )

If you are thinking I-5 to Hwy 99 (Chico) to Hwy 70 (Marysville) to Hwy 20 (Grass Valley) to Hwy 49 (Auburn) to Hwy 193 (Georgetown)???
Ick! Small 2 lane farm roads with lots of trucks doing 45 mph. (and tractors that dart across the hiway )
You would save time on I-5 to I-80 to Hwy 49 to Hwy 193. Traffic on Thursday really is not that bad.
(Fridays are a nightmare with all the Bay Area peeps going to Tahoe.)
When I came up to OR in April, there was road construction all the way up I-5. Should be clear by now. Still took me 10 hours to Hillsboro.
Traffic will be bad coming in to Sacramento during rush hour from Business 80 to Roseville, then it clears up. And, rush hour here is short. Say from 4:30 to 6PM.
Otherwise Take I-5 to Hwy 20 (Colusa) thru Marysville/Yuba City, to Hwy 65 (Rocklin) to I-80 E , to Hwy 49 (Auburn), to Hwy 193 (Georegetown). The small hiways going thru have traffic and stop lights thru town.
Hope that helps.
I could have just said no....go this way...

Re: Rubicon Run 2K6
Thanks for the directions. I took 395 down to Reno and it was very nice. I am not sure if I am going, I might have to wait until next year.

I'm coming back on 395. I like that road, and there should be a lot of deer out there during that time of year.
Have you and I met before? I'm trying to figure that out.

I met H3Slate at the trials course in Reno. I think you were taking care of something else. But he was there with Vic Alfonso, so you may have met him on the way to Reno.

I sat next to you at dinner Saturday night w/ the Vic Alfonso dinner. The jazz club with lousy service. We went on the Nixon trail on sunday.
our guide at 50 mph hill.
I am borderline about going to the rubi. I have to get the time off of work and need to get some 35's.
If you plan any local off roading trips I would love to go. I have gone a couple of times in the Estacada area. Nice views, mud if you want, and a couple of rocky spots.
view of Mt. Hood from Rocky butte.

Re: Rubicon Run 2K6
Oh HI! Well, if you get the tires and the time off, we'll see you then!
I was just up to Timothy Lake last week, and I live just a few miles from Estacada. Yes, I'll definitely call you next time I go up there.
Do you have lockers on your H3? You'll definitely need them, and be prepared for carnage.

Re: Rubicon Run 2K6
I have the rear e-locker. The trails I went on had a lot of low hanging trees to scratch at the paint and some stumps to navigate. I utilized my ucp on a rock ledge I climbed at the end of the trail.
I won't be able to make it to Rubicon this time. Hope everybody has a great time!
No playing with the poop bags!

Re: Rubicon Run 2K6
I still remember the last time I went with DRTY on the Rubicon. The guy was always looking at everyone's scat. Strange.
