Not that you wouldn't have gotten stuck, but take the steps off next time. Also don't feel bad about the tape, here is mine at before it's first outing with only 1,100 miles. I didn't want any scratches and guess what, I didn't get any

Thats not bad, here is a pic of my Old H1 after hitting a thick mud pit a couple of times. Took me 12+ hours of power washing to get it all off.

Trust me, I'm taping up everytime from now on!!! $20 for tape, $40 for magnets, and 2 hrs of sweet time. I learned the hard way about the steps. I've gotten lazy the past couple of times and haven't had to remove them. Destroyed them and the cheap Manik rockers this time. Bought GM rockers Monday and have more steps on order. I will not make the same mistake twice. Bent one of the steps on something on the trail (never saw what it was, maybe a gremlin), lodged it between my rear fenderwell and tire. Limped off the trail to remove. Anyway a few pics of the normally straight brackets and the bent bar. By the way, the Manik rockers jammed into the plastic door thing and i couldn't open the passenger doors until i removed everything. That piece is on order, since the plastic clips behind it are unserviceable. The GM rockers feel like heavy duty monsters and i do not expect this will happen again.......

Yeah, those are pretty fubar. HI's manic bent up on the passenger side last time we were in Tellico and made the door hard to open and close. Once we got back to the cabin we bent in back done and the door was fine. The OEMs are one hell of a lot stronger. I've beat the hell out of mine and the worst they have are some gouges from rocks.
