cool thread.

i've seen M/T tires fail on hills that look quite a bit like that (and which shouldn't be a big deal), and its left me a bit perplexed as well. I've also been the beneficiary of being "first in line" up a muddy hill... :P But if you said it didn't change much then...

i'll have to also take another peek at le coopus tirimus

Like I said, he was the last one up, but it didnt look that much worse. Also you can see how clogged they are and on one of the H3 pics you can see that there is not a deep pit of mud in the bottom.

Also, this is only on dirt and mud so I cant say which are better on rocks, sand, etc.

Any commets on the winch vs snatch? I was really suprised.

Alan, that looks like a fun little place to ride around for the day.

I have found that the STTs provide a ridiculously good grip in mud and on wet rock. On my old truck I used to air down my MTRs as far as reasonable to get as much traction as possible. I usually offroad the STTs at 22 PSI because I get plenty of traction at that pressure and would rather have the extra clearance.
I was a little apprehensive about buying them when I did because of the lack of track record back then, but in the size I have, I would pay a little more for them than for any other tire. The fact that they are actually cheaper makes it an easy call for me.
