I wouldn't be so sure about that. I had a spider like that before, I went to step on it and it stared me down. When I got my shoe on it, it flipped me backwards. Ended up as a 3 day battle, in the process half of my house was destroyed and I had 3rd degree burns over 70% of my body. So don't think they are more scared than you, they have no fear.

Re: Big Spider
I know, I know.
I looked for it a little this morning but it was still dark out. You guys do't undersatnd, I have been a furniture ninja since I saw it. Jumping from couch to chair to stair or counter. Like when you were little with monsters under your bed kinda leaps. Just in case it has come in, it was chilly last night.
I have been googling wolf spider and have figured it is a Hogna Carolinesis. The largest wolf spider. Ken is more scared of them than I am, he has been wearing his shoes.
If I find it, I will video the killing.

Re: Big Spider
OMG!!! You east coast people are pussies. I would have either captured it in a jar and been feeding it yellow jackets or trimmed its legs down to little nubs.

When you can't see it is when you should really be worried. It's probably hiding in your bed, shoe or clothes, maybe even your food.

The problem is you were looking down on the ground for it and
it was above you, probably raced in the house while you were
staring down looking for it.
It's Friday the 13th and
IT'S IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!

To me, looks like a Dolomedes scriptus, most common name - fishing spider, or it could be a albineus.
