I agree on the interior of the FJ.

It seems that comparing raw dimensions that the off-roading capabilities should be rather similar- tho the weight of the H3 relative to it's size is an advantage- as with anything so similar "It's all in the driver.". That is all.

Obviously no one has seen a new JK perform offroad, but to already assume it's somehow below the FJ or the H3 is laughable.

Simply having a SFA with disconnects and lockers F and R quickly accelerates it off-road wise.

It is certainly comparable to the FJ in the interior and blows each of the others away due to the simple fact that it can go topless.

Obviously, from other threads, it's already known what I now think of the FJ/H3 comparison off-road.

Having been in the position of having both an H2 and H3 in the driveway, I'd have to say, in my opinion, Dennis has contracted mad cow disease.

I find the H3 interior quality to be extremely high in comparision to both the FJ and the new Wrangler. I never really found the engine in the H3 to be lackluster, except when passing on country roads (which I do maybe 3x/month). I personally don't like a powerful, rip-roaring engine unless there's sporty handling to back it up (i.e., BMW X5). So the whole acceleration/power argument is a moot point in my opinion, and if you're really interested in an off-road vehicle, should it matter if you can go 0-60MPH in 8 seconds? I think the relationship of the torque band to RPM's should be of more interest.

If you're looking for strictly a street vehicle, then avoid the H3. It's not designed for that use. Choose a Ford Explorer or the new GM Acadia/Outlook/Enclave CUVs, because they certainly have the power, and the latter models will have tons of cargo room, airbags, seating, AWD, and power along with 22-24 MPG. There's absolutely no reason to have an FJ, Jeep, or Hummer if you're not looking to use it off-highway.

So I suppose we should ask, what are your intentions with the next vehicle Dennis? Do you plan to take it off the highway? Or is it a mall cruiser designed to ferry dry goods from the grocery store and back? No offense here, but we should just know what your intentions are.

Just to clarify,

I'm not at all slamming the H3 members here. Some of you guys have proven to have uncanny wheelin ability as witnessed in Moab and now the Rubicon.

Just have a different opinion on rigs.
