Re: 100K Component Warranty on My '06 H3
I don't have a letter yet, but I will in a couple of days.
I'm sooo happy!
I just called HUMMER and said I was concerned about wheeling with a truck that was almost out of warranty (38.6K). Until they had the "diff" issues resolved, I would be afraid of breaking down on the trail.
I also said, "If I were breaking half shafts or tie rods, you would not be hearing from me, those can be repaired on the trail. Differentials can't. And if I were to break another one, I would not be able to afford the $1,000.00 + it would take to fix it."
About a week later they called me back and were proud to offer me and extended warranty
I love my HUMMER!

Is it really that easy to swap out a half shaft on the trail?

Depends on your definition of easy?
You can do it, but you will sweat a bit, but is probably better than walking. Have to have the right tools too and a giant pry bar will help.
An outer tie rod is a lot easier.....

Not to digress from this excellent news that GM stands up to their warranty and products, but I wanted to add that my truck's tranny torque converter blew on my way from KC to Denver a few years ago! The tranny was rebuilt by Ford for $3300, and Ford would not budge on any assistance. The truck was at 44,000 miles.
