Re: Hot Shot Washer Fluid Heater
I used mine through the winter last year and it worked just like they said it would...with no problems. About a couple of months ago, I was just fiddling around while driving down the highway, and decided to turn on the unit for some bugs....it just flashed rapidly at me....and then went dark....tried it again later, and the same thing happened. I called tech support after checking the manual, and they said that most likely the heater burnt out because I didn't prime it. I primed it the first time I used it when I installed it...and then purposely primed it after it starting glitching recently....they wanted me to send it back...I may do that, just depends on if they will send a new one or not....I have no receipt because it was an ebay purchase over a year ago...so I doubt they would replace it. So....I'll be installing my other unit when I feel like working in the cold weather - and we'll see how long it works....
But, again, it works great when it's working...

Re: Hot Shot Washer Fluid Heater
Oh, and I've had problems with the battery dying every so often...I don't believe it's related to the hotshot though, because the last time the battery died, the unit's fuse was pulled....

Don't laugh, I live by Murphy's law. I have a question... With my luck the heat would hit my cold windshield and break it or something in that nature, is there even a chance it could/would happen?

Re: Hot Shot Washer Fluid Heater
doubt it...I don't think it's hot enough to do that....you'd have a better chance of getting a rock chip than to have the water break the windshield...

Re: Hot Shot Washer Fluid Heater
I was going to wait and go with one of the new wireless units that they showed at SEMA, but it sounds like the wired version doesn't even work that well.
Hmmm...

Re: Hot Shot Washer Fluid Heater
Here is another alternative if you live in Canada. They might ship to the U.S. too, but I am not certain.

Re: Hot Shot Washer Fluid Heater
Mine stopped working a while ago. I played with it a little, and actually replaced it with another that was sitting in my garage. Still doesn't work. Not sure what's going on...haven't had the time to look at it again either.

Hey Doc,
I'm pretty sure I know why your Hot Shot isn't working.
If I recall correctly my Hot Shot was haveing the same problem as yours. I called Webasto and they couldn't figure it out so they sent me a new unit but I still had the same problem. Then it hit me
It was a bad ground. I moved teh ground to a solid ground and that solved the problem. It works perfect since last winter.
I did a write up on the Hot Shot install but I can't locate it. I was able to locate teh write up I did on teh install of the fix kit which is needed for H2's
if anyone needs it here ya go:
