Are you sure?? He/she is out there right now just looking at itself. I am not going to shoot it or kill it or anything like that. But I was thinking of puting a large towel over the windshield so it can't see itself any more. Or trap it and make it a pet... Crap! I have no clue.

Well, OK, You'll have to use the TOUGH LUV technique!...Using cotton balls, (so you can't damage the bird or Finish on truck)....See bird land...Grab handfull of cotton balls...Cock arm so handfull of ball line up with shoulder......Swagger out the door--arm still cocked!...And just before the bird takes off...Fire those cotton balls!!....May take several attempts!....But, the bird will get the picture!

Yes, I'm sure. We had something similar happen years ago. Long story short, I called the zoo and spoke to someone in the bird section (geez, can't think of the name). He told me pigeons (and yes, penguins) mate for life. It is seeing its reflection in your windshield (in our case, it was the window of a business we owned). It would huddle there 24/7 just looking at itself and cooing... rarely looking for food. Covering your windshield somehow with a towel sounds like a good idea. Good luck.

Our local bird rescue will be comming over to see if they can catch it and take the dang Dove to another area where there are more Doves. They did say that it will not find another mate, but would live among the others.

Now if I could get animal control to be that willing to work and get the damn cat.

I have an awesome receipe for grilling dove. First you cut the bird down the middle gut it keep the liver. Take a pat of butter, fresh basil, garlic and the dove liver wrap with 2 slices of apple bacon stuff iti nto chest cavity, then wrap the outside of the chest area with one more slice of bacon use a toothpick to hold it all together the dry rub it with sea salt, rosemary and thymemixtur and toss on the grill low heat till done. Enjoy with a Pinot Grigio or a Dry Riesling

Mmm Yummy !

A very tasty way to get rid of pests

That's too damn complicated. Get a good ole jalepeno, stuff it up in a de-boned dove breast, wrap with bacon and grill.

I'll be DAMNED if that's not some good eating. Of course, that bird doesn't have much of a breast, so I would tie it's feet to a string and let it be a live decoy so you can get some more for the dinner table.
