Re: Got 'er stuck
Please tell me you didn't use a CHAIN to pull your rig out?
I've always been under the impression that using a chain for such a recovery is not recommended, a) because it has no give, b) a single weak link in the chain and *snap*, and c) all the dangers of a snapping chain flying at you at 100mph. Yet, I've seen so many people doing it...

Good point. And that's a thin chain at that...
Nothing metal (except a winch line on a winch) should be used for recovery!

It worked didnt it. Sometimes you just use what you've got.

I agree, I've used chain all my life-shxt they didn't have fancy tow straps until about 20 years ago. When chain breaks it goes dead-looses all inertia-whereas cable and nylon straps have the rebound effect . anyway I'm big believer in "Git R Done".

Re: Got 'er stuck
I usally use chains. I had a strap break once and it came back and cut the grill , radiator and fan belts in half. I'm glad no one was standing there or they would have been cut in half. I use chains now most of the time.
SOmetimes you need chain , like in this pic.
