Re: Black Wheels!
NOt lifted 37 13.50 17 procomp extreme at mounted on 17 X 9 = rubbing...esp. wheeling.
17 X 9 rim with 5" backspace is better.
I ran 35 12.50 bfg MT's on 18 X 9 5" BS and just cleared when wheeling.
PM rod on here. He has 37 13.50's without a lift and I think he's fine.

Re: Black Wheels!
Thanks Timcgo.
Are you saying that, with 13.5" wide tires + 4.5" BS, you start to rub the outside of the tire on the fender? Is that why you recommend 5.0" BS?
My STTs are called "37x12.5s", but the Cooper specls list them as 13.1"wide. Consistent with that, they seem to be a little wider than the BFG MT 12.5s, but a little narrower than other 13.5" tires.
Is Pro Comp a good option? Do you think they have 17x9-8-6.5 wheels with 5.0" BS? I can only get a smattering of options from different websites? The current Pro Comp website is under construction. And solme retailers have some sizes of wheels, while other retailers have some different sizes of wheels available. It's maddening.

Re: Black Wheels!
Thanks Adam. It looks like you just removed the chrome-looking center cap thingy. Does that just pop right off?

Thanks Phil. Am I reaching the correct conclusion then that, with my 13.1"-wide tires, I'm probably okay with 4.5" BS?

Re: Black Wheels!
Marine, yep. You might get a little rubbing on the swaybar, but that's normal.

Thanks Ken. I already have the sway bar rubbing. If I still have some of that when I move the tires out an inch, it will be less swaybar rubbing, right? I'm just concerned that I will end up with rubbing on the fender or something, but, looking at my tires now, I don't think moving them out an inch will do that. I hope I'm not wrong.

Re: Black Wheels!
Sorry for reviving an old thread... But I'm looking into getting new wheels/tires. So here are my questions...
1. My H2 is completely stock as of now, and at full lock on pavement I can already feel it rubbing. Is this normal?
2. I was looking at the AR Mojave Teflons in 18x9.5 I am still undecided on whether I get 35/36/37" tires... I want more ground clearance and more tire will help with that, but what modifications will need to be done to fit the 36/37" tires on the car. I read somewhere that I need a torsion key(?) for the front to fit bigger tires.
3. Do the Mojaves come with diffrent backspacing? If so what is the ideal setup for running 13.5" wide tires.
4. I've read that people lower the air pressure when off roading to increase grip, will I run into problems reducing air pressure on the 9.5" wheel as oppsed to 8.5 or 9" wheels. With the 9.5" wheels I have to run a minimum of 13.5" tires?
Thanks

With the 9.5" wheels I have to run a minimum of 13.5" tires? Most people air down to around 20 psi for extra grip. I do 25 psi since i have broken a bead before, but it depends on your tire and its sidewall, etc as to what is ideal (type of terrain is another factor in what pressure is ideal).
Thanks

IMO, I would just stick with a 12.50 width on stock backspacing so you dont have issues w/clearance. If you have air susp. the wider tires will rub and break the sensors during seroius wheeling. A 12.50 will even do this sometimes. My 37 x12.50 Coopers gave me about 1.5" of extra clearance which means they actually were 3" taller than my stock tires. That little 1.5" makes a big difference when wheeling though.
