Re: H3 winch mounts for sale
I ordered the hard cover on line, but you can get them locally at any Warn dealer.
I can't find the diggie camera right now, I added two PIAA off road lights to the deck. Looks badass I think....
I have yet to fab up the steel guards to go around the lights, but when the weather breaks and i get time I will complete them.
Also just to mention I am in the planning phase of a new brush guard as well.
The OEM works okay.... But just doesn't identify with my rig, so to speak...
I have tried a few sketches, and already know I am going to use schedule 40 1" pipe and when I am finished black powder coat.

Thanks Demo....I don't want anyone doing damage to the bumper with the mount, seems it only needs a little reinforcement above to avoid the pivot...we'll see what I can come up with. Whatever it is, it'll require drilling to mount to OEM cage, and I think it'll work with most any other cage as well.
I saw the same setup on another manufacturer's cage/winchmount setup...think it was Rough Country? Upper mounting points to help avoid the rotational force, should work with any grill cage.

Re: H3 winch mounts for sale
What about lowering the mounting plate down to the middle...?? If I said make it a shaped like a T instead of an L would that make any sense..??
Instead of this (side view)

Re: H3 winch mounts for sale
That would fix the rotation, but lower the mount & cut off the approach angle.....and that's too important to lose!

Re: H3 winch mounts for sale
Do you loose anything the way it is now..??? Could it be dropped any at all before it cuts into the approach..??? Every little bit would be helping some...

Re: H3 winch mounts for sale
Cris I had a chance to use the winch deck today, looks good, no doubt.
But as you mentioned, there is a problem with the pull. I thought the front end of my rig was going to pull off.
My brush guard tweaked down towards the winch deck, and the front of my rig was bent. I stopped the pull because my whole front end was looking bad.
Under a load of 1600lbs I didn't expect it to act like this.

Re: H3 winch mounts for sale
What??? 1600 lb pull & the bumper bent? Doesn't sound right....mine has handled some extreme pulls with no problems, until I really put a full load on it at a low angle.
The root of the problem seems to be the plates welded to the end of the frame for the D-ring attachment points; they are surprisingly thin at 3/16".
I've drawn up new plates to weld on, 3/8" with angle gussets to help prevent the bending. They're being laser-cut this week, will send out to anyone who wants them, no charge. It'll require pulling the bumper & grinding off the old ones, then re-welding new ones on. Also may include 2 supports to go from grill cage to body metal at upper grill.
Easy to fix that bend for now; I pulled my bumper (easy, 6 bolts, took an hour altogether), banged it out some from the inside, and used a pipe-wrench to straighten the mounting plates back up. I can't believe they only used 3/16 steel for those plates, beefing them up should fix the issue.
I want eveyone happy, and for things to work right, and nobody should have to think twice about pulling out the winch.
