Re: h3 vs h2 in speed.
tight man thanks for an honest opinion. See Ive got backround in the h1 and h2, just new to the h3. I think it looks like a little bastard! I love the thing and also its more practical for what I need. lol 8mpg though jesus man your an animal! Im just thinking the h3 alpha for me might be a bit over kill, I might do like the 300 dollar lease on the H3 its a damn good deal.

Re: h3 vs h2 in speed.
The H2 is not a slow truck! I kick my brothers ass all the time in his 95 Tahoe (non vorteck 350)its far lighter, his 96 Tahoe (vortec) will beat me though. With other trucks, I feel it hangs in there fine. If you have a rolling start, and it kicks down, you will move out pretty darn good! In the H3 loaners I've had, when you stomp it and it kicks down, it makes a lot of noise but dosen't seem to go anywhere. Who runs a full quater mile anyway? Its all about kicking it down and passing idiots to me.
I thing the v8 alpha H3 will be a great truck both on and off. I love over-powered vehicles. You will be able to spin through deep mud and power up steep, loose hills that weaker vehicles will just get bogged down on, and pass iditos (key!!!), older model H3's, H2's, and of course H1's.
I like you love having power. If you want a powerful truck get an H2 or wait for the H3 Alpha. Sorry guys but IMO the I5 (either version) just isnt powerful enough.

Re: h3 vs h2 in speed.
Wow what a boring thread.... anyway I dont know if you got your answer but when I was buying my H2 I decided to consider getting my wife the H3, however I test drove it and it is exactly what your not wanting. It is way way way underpowered, I could not believe how much so. just my .02

Funny you mention that! I was just discussing the approach angle of the Murci?lago vs the Gallardo. Trying to figure out which one would receive the least damage attempting to go up a particular driveway and over certain speed bumps.

Re: h3 vs h2 in speed.
I apologize in advance for not having read all of the posts in this thread, but my $0.02:
I just took my H2 in to the dealer today to get an OnStar module replaced. They gave me a 2007 H3 loaner. I have never driven one with the 3.5L, but the 07 with the 3.7L was way quicker than I imagined it would be. After all of the bad press, I expected it to be a dog. Perhaps I have low expectations (I'm one of the people who thinks that the H2 does not need to be any faster - I've never really wanted or needed to puch that massive beast any faster than it goes). I enjoy driving fast cars, but I don't really enjoy drving my H2 around like a race car. I've been considering getting an H3 for my wife fairly soon. I might have already done so, but I was dreading the slowness of the vehicle and thought we should see what the pricing on the Alpha would be. After today (though I'd rather have the Alpha-everything else being equal), I'm not sure I'd pay much more for one. The 3.7L H3 seems plenty fast to me. Granted, it did not have the 33" tires, but I can't believe that will make a huge difference.
