Hand-built at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich., the LS7 engine contains a litany of racing-derived components, such as an eight-quart dry-sump lubrication system, titanium valves and connecting rods, forged-steel crankshaft with six-bolt main bearings, high-profile cam, and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machined heads for better air/fuel flow. Even with its performance, the engine does not incur a federal government gas-guzzler penalty."

Yet you claim to be such an expert on all things "GM"

Lets see. I claimed it was Hand Built ----> Yup, says so right there.
You claim it was not built by GM, but wait, there it states it is built at the "GM Perfromance Center in Wixom, Mich" huh.....

http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/

Maybe I just don't see your Genius here....maybe, when GM says that they hand build the motor to different specs with different components than a standard LS, they actually mean they use a crate motor from some mystery supplier. So, either you don't have a clue what you are talking about or GM is purposely lying to us.

As far as the whole notion of "Hand built", yes, I will agree with you that they are all hand assembled to a point. The original posting was that they are not simply putting a bigger engine into a Z06, but that the engine is special and that GM did a host of other things to that version of the Corvette.

I am new here and don't really know you, so I will shut up on this point. But it seems to me that your information does not square up with what is publically available information.

What you really have to do, Mr. Snappy, is learn to read and comprehend. Maybe I type too fast for you to understand. So, let me type this really slow so that I can answer your questions?.

Your statement:

My Statements:
?A engine borrowed from Chevy? Cool, didn't know Chevy made engines anymore. I guess they must have purchased GM powertrain. Hell, the LS engines are NOT made by Chevy.?
?You believe Chevy makes the LS9 engine? I KNOW for a FACT they don't.?

Maybe a technicality, but CHEVY DOES NOT MAKE ENGINES, and if you read your statement, you might see that it also SAYS GM, NOT CHEVY. I have never stated the engine was not manufactured by GM, but it is NOT manufactured by Chevrolet. GMPT (aka GM Powertrain) is the manufacturer on record. Maybe it is a technicality, but it is not a true statement to say Chevy makes the engine. Chevrolet Motor Division, does assemble the vehicle, at one of their plants, owned by General Motors. To say I?m screwing with you, would be more accurate. Now that you have made it personal, it will be more fun.

My Statement to this:
Have I said they built this engine to the same specs as the LS2? No, I just stated that hand assembly by humans is no big thing, since it is very common to assemble an engine using Human hands. Stop trying to find my Genius, I?ll be the first to acknowledge, I am NOT a genius, but I DO KNOW GM Powertrains, and I know what is coming in the future, but can?t say a damn thing about that.

Again, Mr. Snappy, please read my previous posts and I think you will discover that the problem lies with you not really reading what I have written. So, the next time you call someone a Moron, make sure that the statement does not apply to yourself. It is usually a good thing to wait a few posts to really know the person you are insulting on the Internet.

I?m willing to let it lie; it is time to move on now?are you?

Have a great day.

Yeah,
the word "Moron" was a little inflamatory....but it was response to your post about how "hilarious" it was that we were talking about GM stuff when we were obviously to dumb to know the truth, at least that is was I read into it.

My apolagies to my bad choice of words.

Apology accepted. My original statement appears to have been misunderstood. I was knocking the fact there are probably at least five, maybe upward to twenty, threads on the Alpha; what it will have, what it will cost, and what it will do.
Hell, as I have stated quite a few times, I do not even know the price, but I can guess it will be in the 40K range, just from knowing GM. I really HOPE I'm wrong in that statement.

Got to go and get my TP squares all ready for tomorrow.
