Re: 1St Oil Change Due....
The main purpose of that sticker is to increase dealer service revenue. Vehiicles that burn oil are the exception these days and that's good.

Re: 1St Oil Change Due....
Everything I have read shows the Mobil or the K&N filters as the best for filteing out small microns of dirt/debris. Used to be the Ultra Delco filters, but they are no longer manufactured.
I have changed my oil three times and I have 24K+ miles, and one of those oil changes was at 2K.

F5,
Question...
I see a lot of fellow 3'ers talk about doing their own service, mostly oil and filter change. Should there be a warrenty issue concerning the engine are receipts from (Pep Boys, Sears, WalMart, Advanced Auto etc etc etc) acceptable to GM for the purchase of oil and filter even though the consumer did the actual labor ?
I understand when a outside shop, not a dealer does the service and you have that service record
BUT..................?

Re: 1St Oil Change Due....
General rule is the manufacturer has to prove you did not perform the service. Keep your receipts for the oil/filter/etc., and you should be ok. Very easy to tell if a vehicle has had the oil changed.

Because the oil companies and the oil change shops are great at propaganda; and the fact many of the older people, my age, did have to get the 3K oil change back in the dark ages. But some take a while to adapt.
Now it is not necessary, but, better to change the oil sometime, then never to change the oil anytime.

Re: 1St Oil Change Due....
33k, going in in the next couple weeks for oil change #4. That's moderate driving (half highway, half in town). What amazes me even more is that at least 5k of that is full off-road, usually gravel lots of dust, etc. and the air cleaner is still clean-as-new. I remember having to change air cleaners all the time on dusty roads back in the day of carbs and open air cleaners. I love technology...

Yeah...from one old man to another... ..your correct. That was the deal back then. Guys use to brag how they would change oil at 1000 miles and 1500 miles. I always changed it at 2500. But ...as stated that was back in the old days.
After this 3000 mile change it'll be @ 5000 mile intervals. and...who knows maybe at 10K miles with the new Mobil one long Life BS that just came out.
