Eight inches or more would be ok (differential you perverts), and yes, as NEO stated, be patient....
I agree with Bebe, how often is a front locker really needed? However, if you do need it, it would be nice to have.

A front locker would be useful in some situations. We are waiting patiently 
I would rather have control over the front diff rather than having traction control/abs kick in.
I have had ARB's front and rear in a YJ and my Rubicon has lockers front and rear. No complaints.
