Noise and shaking when turning hard?

The night before when I going in reverse it was not moving when the wheels were turned unless I goosed it. When I stepped on the gas a bit it made a slight humming sound and the steering wheel was vibrating slightly. The next day it did it everytime I was turning right or left anything past more than half of the maximum turning radius (does that make sense?). At that point it was whining almost like it would if you had no power steering fluid and vibrating pretty bad. Hope that helps. Dealer said this was not a common issue.

SL - Thanks for the info. My steering column sometimes creaks but nothing like what you experienced.

My H3 is doing the same thing in the steering. I told the dealer that I believe it was the steering shaft because I had the same problem on my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. They did absolutely nothing to my car My loaner with 1500 miles was doing the same exact thing - steering column vibrating and hopping and pedals vibrating when turning. It seems that the gremlins only come out when i'm driving, the dealership said nothing was happening when they drove my car. I guess I will try a different dealership.
