I quote myself, really would like one of these, I almost bought one for my jeep. I like the contrast to the 3. My story would be...
" I was visiting the painted desert and the petrified forest, I know what the signs say but I could resist I had to take this petrified "turd like" dinosaur dropping. Had a local Indian carve the image on it and decided to make a gear shift out of it." No one in Upstate NY would know the difference
I assume the one in Quadratec is the same manufacture???

No offense H3less. A couple have liked the idea, but only one has said anything close to 'ease up'.

No offense taken, not sure what you mean about "ease up" though, unless you were joking about the shifter nob. I do like them, I grew up in AZ and think it would be kinda cool to have one!

Re: Shifter knob, Rock Nobs
I'm not joking, I'm getting one. I think it's a neat idea and I can't stand the stock knob. The stupid insert in the handle moves and is driving me crazy. And I still am looking for info on getting the stock one off.
Ease up on me for wanting one. Someone can post their opinion once if you don't like it, but to come back more than once to continue that point of view is only making me feel bad for wanting one, and maybe others who are not posting.

Re: Shifter knob, Rock Nobs
Bunch of blingy mofos... I've thought they were pretty cool looking and DIFFERENT since I first saw 'em, but they won't work to well in an auto truck..
FWIW, I'd stay away from the Moab Rock.. I've heard the rocks around there are kinda radioactive..
FWIW... If you've got your own rock, you should be able to get a masonary bit in a drill press and SLOWLY drill it out and epoxy in a metal sleeve to go on the shifter.. Would be a bit cheaper, but it'd chew up a whole lotta time..

Re: Shifter knob, Rock Nobs
So what's the reason behind all the hate? Is the guy that makes them someone you all know and can't stand? There has to be something because this seems like a neat idea.
And if we can move beyond the bashing, how do I get the shifter knob off/boot down?

Re: Shifter knob, Rock Nobs
c'mon don't do it, a rock looks out of place in hi tech hummer
Did I say hi tech?
Besides Rocky road takes forever to ship. Ordered shackles for my H3 from them. They are actually jeep chackles but they fit.

The Helm manual states that you have to remove the entire center console trim plate to access the shift lever retaining screw. It says to never pull on the shift boot, because it may damage the shift boot retainers.
The weird thing is that this procedure is to remove the entire shift lever, not the shifter knob itself.
I haven't found where it shows the removal of just the shifter knob.

Thank you marin8703. Nice to see one person coming to my defense... appropriately a Marine (I'm assuming you are one). BTW, I don't know anyone on this site.

no problem. i was a marine but unfortunately after training i transfered to another government organization and have not been on the field as a marine. My first name is also Marin. a person doesnt really need to have special values to notice unnecessary comments, just common sense.
I dont really know anyone on here for real either, but over the past year or so i guess i have made some online buddies.
