Re: Best way to disable H2????
If this is a concern, you ought to look into a tracking device. Several companies are making them now and show be around $650-$800 installed. Some devices require a monthly fee and with others you purchase "units" on how many times you check it within a period of time. The device allows you to remotely shut down your vehicle, indicate when a vehicle is getting broken into (by calling your cell), remotely lock you vehicle (in case you think you might have forgotten), as well as other things. Some used car dealerships are finding it more economical to install these rather than having to search everywhere for a defaulted vehicle.

The problem with using a tracking system in this situation is that someone has to report the vehicle missing before it can be tracked. By the time he gets back he might be able to find the tracking unit on a burro in TJ.

You're most likely referring to lojack. The systems I was referring to started for people who wanted to track where their kids or employees were going. (For those with employees, most set a "boundary". For example, if you are have a permit to work within a particular county. You can set it where you will get a call or notice if the vehicle exits that county.)
These systems don't have to be called in. It's a continuous system. It's attached to the alarm, so if the vehicle is broken into, the alarm sounds not only at the vehicle, but would also page or call his cell phone. You also have the ability to go online and check the distance traveled, how long it's traveled, the speed in which in traveled, etc... If he finds that his vehicle is being broken into, he can dial back to the car and remotely disable it. Then call the cops. Or vice versa so they don't get away. It's a bit rare to see these yet, so thieves are most likely not looking for this yet. What would be really funny is to track it, call the cops and tell them where they're at, and disable it while they're trying to get away.
You DO have the option of not subscribing. You will automatically get the service where if your vehicle IS stolen, then, yes they start the tracking on it. But if you subscribe, then you're golden.

Re: Best way to disable H2????
I would go with a Mad Max Style Car-Bomb Or you could pull the fuses buy a CLUB and turn the wheel to full lock whit the tranny in 4lo and engage the rear locker. That should be pretty damn hard for them to figure out. It would take one hell of a tow truck to drag that thing out of a spot with the drivetrain locked and and wheels cranked. They would not doubt need dollies etc....

Yeah, I have heard of lenders putting these on cars, you don't pay, you don't drive. I find that hilarious. Now a deadbeat can get his cable shut off, cell phone turned off and his car privileges taken away. Talk about deadbeat rehab. I think that technology is great.
thanks
