Outside with a nice painted cover looks good, truck does look clean without it but with a nice cover outside its a toss up.

Hated it on the outside at first, but learned to live with it!

It's not really that bad, and I would hate to think it would do to someone's car in a rear end accident!

I put mine on top because I don't like it inside or hanging on the back. I know if I leave it home, I'll need it. Roadside assistance won't cover a call if your spare isn't with you, so I just leave it one top. I've only needed it once after I picked up a drill bit with the right rear tire one time.
I don't go into parking garages or anything like that, so I don't have to worry about clearance.

I love mine on back, but eithout a cover. I think an uncovered spare on the back makes the vehicle look like a serious off-road vehicle
(even more so on the roof, but I can't get any taller and still park inside, and a spare on top has to drop your highway MPGs--almost like putting a small sail on top of your vehicle). If you want an urban-looking machine, inside or no spare would be best.

For functionallity the swing-a-way rear is best IMO. Its a bitch to get a 90lb tire off the roof and the flat one on there again if you are out on a trail, or anywhere for that matter.

I have mine inside, hope that I never have to use it as it would be a bitch to get out. Also the factory jack is crap, hope I never have to use that either.
