Hey check out this Cabelas site. It has a cool Flat water tank and Flat Fuel Tank!
Flat Tanks!
They look like they would fit very nicely on the Gobi rack without taking up much space! You can even stack a bunch of stuff on top of it!

How much weight would the 15 gallon tank add to the top of the car? About 80 lbs? That could come in handy when camping in remote areas.

15x6=90lbs
The 3-4 places I checked online mostly said gasoline was around 6lbs per gallon

12 gallons should be more than enough to you out of just about anywhere and back to civilization.
