You're taking off a part with plenty of engineering behind it that performs better than everything else and installing a filter that does a worse job and then imagining it performs better by the "seat of the pants".
Run both filters on the strip and see what the difference is, then have a oil analysis done after running a foam filter and post here how much silica they'll find.
Save the headache and do a search here, the test data has already been posted.
