I went to college in a little town and we had a case there where a guy heard a noise at his back door while he was watching TV with the lights off. He turned off the television, picked up his compound bow and took a position behind some furniture.
The intruders broke in and he shot one, fatally. The other one ran away wounded. He almost went to a grand jury to determine if his actions were against the law, but eventually they let him off without charging him.

I agree, if given the chance and you have the forewarning, use a bow with a nice broadhead (razor blades) to shoot an intruder. It doesnt matter where you hit him in the body he will most certianly bleed out and die within minutes. A broadhead slides through a body like a knife through hot butter and there is no amount of bandaids and stiches that can save something after being shot by one.
On the other hand, if you dont have time, grab the shotgun

the best part is he could have saved the taxpayers expense of the trail and jailing if he had killed him...  |
