Re: battery problem, AC Delco
The stock battery is undersized. Get a decent battery and replace it...
The Plastic housing and base is also too small. Throw it out. However the metal tray and strap with it are good for any size replacement. Use a 8mm ratchet to remove hold down bolt on strap. Get a maintenance free type since the hold down strap is wide. Strap will cover caps on standard battery.
Good Luck!

Re: battery problem, AC Delco
my battery went at 35000 miles ...they replaced it for free, no pro-rating...
much cheaper then an Optima...!
and they gave me a free loaner for the day while they anal-ized the problem !!!

Re: battery problem, AC Delco
Thanks for info; I guess that I'll take the vehicle to dealership and try to get a new free battery. If they'll replace it with the same one, I'll probably buy a better battery some day soon - to make sure this wouldn't happen again. Well, at least now I really believe it's nothing else electrical, just most likely a crappy battery....

Re: battery problem, AC Delco
OK, so it turned out a bad battery - I took the truck to dealership today, they tested it "with Midtronics" and battery "failed with bad cell". New battery runs fine, all free of $$ charge... I'll have to lok which battery they installed, probably same model, according to service slip/workorder it is P/N 86-7YR, so another ACDelco.. I guess I'll eventually go ahead and buy Optima...
Why our sweet trucks come out of the factory with such a POS battery is a mystery to me.

Is a weak battery the reason for my headlights to dim when raising and lowering the windows?
