I live very close to the factory and have friends that are in the engineering department at the H2 AMG plant.
The line is shut down, Friday was the last production day. All the parts have been used for matched sets that went through the line during this last week.
The production went down to 23 per day and almost exclusively went to export.
The infrastructure and labor costs are so high that anything under 70 units per day is in Red. There was no way to make it work, the H2's don't sell.

Thanks for your input. The nay-sayers on this site become more un-informed and spread nonsense each post. They just want pad points and have NO valid info.

Paris Hiltons House was broken into which didnt affect anyone, but we knew about it asap.

GM stops production of its creme de la creme of SUV's, and............. nothing solid posted anywhere. sorry!!!

Like everyone else on here I wish this wasn't true however it was (is) only a matter of time. Lets face it the writing has been on the wall. People are not buying H2's anymore, and this trend started long before $4 gas. At the current sales levels and the current financial condition of GM H2's didn't have a chance. I have owned 2 H2's and they have been the best daily drivers I have ever had. Never had 1 issue with either one. This is a sad day. Unfortunatley I will probably not be buying an 09 since I just bought a new Viper in August and a new ZO6 last summer. Next year's car will be for the wife. What a bummer.

There is still rumor of a AMG and a Chinese company partnering to take Hummer line back. There is still an India group which has it's own off-road suv line as well as a tractor line that has an estabished tractor dealership across USA where they could market Hummers through.

Here where I'm at a Kubota dealership handled the Hummer line until GM bought it out. Hummer went to some different GM brands dealers to sell.

I think someone and hope that a company flush with funds will want the prestige of owning Hummer brand.

I dropped by Lynch Hummer on my way back from the Ozarks yesterday afternoon. They are one of the only or maybe the only stand alone Hummer dealership left and now the sales leader with Tobin gone. They say the H2 line was stopped earlier than planned last week, BUT they are still taking orders on H2s for future delivery (probably in late spring). If there is a 2010 it will be almost identical to the 2009 H2.
While I was there a couple took delivery of a new H3, a young man was looking at an H3T, and a man was looking at an H2. I was surprised at all the traffic in the showroom.
These guys love to talk Hummers. A bunch of children were waiting with their Mom for their Hummer to get the oil changed and getting antsy, so they took them for the offroad experience behind the dealership - I looked to see if it was in an H1 and I was ready to ask for a ride along too.
Bottom line according to them is that nothing has been decided definitely & they haven't heard anything definite on the H2 from GM except that the line at AMG is stopped for now.
There are lots of rumors, but right now GM is mum. GM has "temporarily stopped supplying some parts to the AM General plant," probably because of oversupply. With gas prices down and people in the holiday mood Hummer sales are up. Lynch intends to stay in Hummers no matter what, but may have to move out of their high priced quonset setup to a smaller less upscale location, but with sales up now, who knows.
Talk about over engineered, you wouldn't believe the piece of machinery for the engine cooling fan on the H1 Alpha, it looked like it belonged in a tank. I think it would take a warehouse to hold all their H1 part inventory if they moved. I could talk Hummers all day with the parts department people there. I also noticed two '06 H3s in the service bays getting cylinder head replacements. The mechanic I talked with said the '07 H3s and later models have almost no head and engine problems with the bigger better engineered 07 and up five cylinder.
He also said most of the problems with the H2 were electric and several were owner brought on with marginal wiring. He's seen H2s with over 150,000 miles with no drivetrain problems and drivetrain problems are rare on the H2. New owners are not used to the six-speed auto tranny on the new H2 and bring it in when everything is fine because of all the shifting it does.

I dont know if anyone has noticed but Hummer is advertising the heck out of the H3 and H3T, but the H2 ads are non-existent. I'd read somewhere that around only 5000 H2's were sold last year. Told my wife I need to get a summer car so that I can keep the miles low on my H2 in case they stop making them!
