I'd be hesitant to believe anything that a dealer told me - since they're largely out of the loop. GM shares info with them about when/why production is delayed, not where the new company wants to put it in 4 years.

I stand corrected.... One would hope that the Chinese would keep the H2 Plant (AM General) here but I guess it's all about Labor cost and health Insurance...And of course Money.

Honestly, I can't think of a worse PR move to move production out of the U.S., which is why I think the rumor is bogus.
But international, non-US versions of the H4? It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they produced those in China.

Totally Agree...Leave the plant here...Keep Americans employed...And Buy the GM Drive Train Parts from GM as they are now. This will support GM and the Drive line Parts Plants and employees. Since AM General Is contracted by GM why can't the Chinese do the same? The H2 is a one of a kind chassis and Body design... It still sells... Leave it The "F" Alone.
If They want to design their own Motor or Tranny Fine... But leave the construction to AM General here in the USA.

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
I agree, I don't want to see American jobs lost. I know the H3 has been produced in Joburg and in Russia for several years under license. I think the H2 has been produced in Russia under license for a few years too.

Yeah..I think they are also producing them in South Africa. Didn't they open a plant for the H3 there a few years back?

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
The H3 was made in South Africa, but they have closed that plant and made all H3 manufacturing centralized in Shreveport, LA. I know H3s were made in Russia for non-export only, and several H1s were made in China by Dongfeng under a limited license three years ago (interestingly a few had Tengzhong diesel engines), but I don't think H2s were ever made anywhere else except for Mishawaka. The Mishawaka plant is probably one of the most modern and high tech vehicle assembly plants in the United States.

Russian plant was H2 only, and you're correct about the South Africa plant -- that's where all global H3s were made (outside North America). As for Dongfeng, that was a knock-off -- not licensed by AM General. AMG is not big on sharing their technology/production rights with anyone - since they export to countries all over the world.
Mishawaka is where all North American H2s are made.
