Does anybody no who in Arizona makes a trailer hitch for the new H3. I could kick myself for not getting the upgrade but now its to late. I called and was told theres no such thing because they are so new. Or if i wait a couple months will there be a after market that the dealership will but on? what do you people think.....

From my understanding, if you do not get the hitch from the factory it is extremely difficult (read: almost impossible) to put a hitch on, due to muffler placement.
I could be wrong, but that was my take on it.

Nothing is impossible.
It is not that the muffler would be different, but if it has to be removed to install, that adds cost. The dealer would have to pay a technician to remove the muffler, and from looking at the procedure, it is not an easy muffler to remove.
But, if it is sold as a dealer installed accessory, it can be installed.
My suggestion is to call the dealer, or dealers.

I'll add some information to my previous post.
I just looked under a H3 here in the shop and I do not see any reason why, the muffler would even have to be moved; let alone removed, to install a hitch.
It appears to be plenty of room, and the hitch is attached to the side rails with what appears to be pre-drilled holes.
In fact, from what I could see, if you purchase a hitch, your husband should be able to install.
Again, not totally confirmed, but that is what it appears to be when looking at it from the ground.

I was told that the factory trailer hitch has a different bumper than the non-hitch H3's. The trailer hitch is some 4 to 5" above a new Yukon, so it requires a drop receiver in most situations.
I would surmise the reason for putting it so high and into the bumper was so that the departure angle wouldn't be too adversely affected, but an H3 at my dealers test track did scrape the hitch a bit. My terminology of receiver and hitch may be off, but keep in mind that your H3 has a slightly better departure angle than hitched H3's.

You are correct, something I never thought to look at this morning when looking at the hitch mount. The bumper that comes from the factory with a hitch has a large piece cut out where the hitch goes to allow the hitch to ride up high. Probably as you mentioned, to keep the angle of departure as high as possible.
The factory bumper without a hitch, is almost the same height in the middle as where the bottom of the trailer hitch is mounted.

I found this place on-line, says they will have a Reese available 9-15-05 and already have a Draw Tite available. I know it is not local but does have free shipping.
Good Luck

So HIHUMMER, I see you have just made your first two posts. Do you have an H3 or are you looking to get one? Either way, welcome.
