Default Re: No more H2....what will we buy?

I personally plan on building up my 2, selling it later and progressing through more 2's till I can find/afford a 08/09, if good fortune comes around I'll pick up some sort of H1 in the process. I don't do a whole lot of high mile driving so I could easily drive a low milage 09' H2 into 2020-2022, or even a little later without any major repairs. By the time we get to 2020 I'd be more worried about higher emission standards or really high fuel prices than finding a good condition hummer to drive or keeping mine going. Who really knows what the next 10 years will hold, maybe GM comes around and starts turning out an all electric based H2/3/4/whatever number and we all start driving that.

I'll be keeping mine for many years as well. At least until gas gets so crazy its just not feasable to drive any more. I like the looks of the Ford Raptor but yet its no Hummer. My 06 is paid for now with only 33K on her. I think i can get 10 more good years out of her before any major work. Well see what the future brings, for now shes staying right here.

I'm keeping mine until one of us die...

BUT...if something were to happen (god forbid) and I couldn't find another H2...I think I'd have to give up the 'off-road SUV' thinking and go with a hopped up Avalanche or a Ford Raptor.

I will never lose my enthusiasm for off-road adventure but I don't think I could make the conversion to Jeep. While I have lots of respect for Wranglers as off-road vehicles, I just can't deal with the cramped interior and limited cargo space. I need BIG and bad.

I've thought about a actual HUMVEE...but just like the H1 they'd be much more expensive to maintain. At least with the H2 there's a lot of cross over parts with other 8 lug GMs...that keeps the 'cost of ownership' down.

Just my 2 cents.

We will be keeping our 2008 for a while...... I would really love it if GM began making the Suburban/Yukon XL 3/4 ton with a Duramax or Ford would make the Excursion again with the powerstroke

Would it be selfish of me to be buried in my H2?

Since I wanted a unique vehicle, so getting an H2 was a very good decision.
Especially when the vehicle is no longer in production, so the H2 will never looked old.....because there are no new model......
The shape is very unique, when you are on the freeway, the H2 really stands out in comparison with the other vehicles.....
All of the Hummer lineup is truly a vehicle Like Nothing Else.......

I am awaiting the delivery of my 05 SUT. It will be my 4th h2 and my 3rd SUT. I started with an 04 SUV. Ive had super duty's that where chipped lifted and geared up (great power), Excursions, and a 06 CC LB duramax (2nd best truck Ive owned), and 2 Raptors. They where nice trucks but you just cant beat the H2. Yeh they arent the most powerfull but that can be fixed for less then the cost of a used Raptor. I did like the Raptors BUT even with all the suspension they have you cant drive in the woods of SD in them like you can in an H2. I put about 25K miles a year on my trucks so i have always traded about every year or so. I plan on keeping this H2 for a long time and just rebuilding or repairing what ever it needs. I look at some of the older trucks that are still on the road with the right care and think my H2 will be one of those trucks that people look at and say I wish I had that. So I guess my response to what I would buy is stick with what you have. It is getting harder and harder to get a nice H2, especially the SUT. If you have a nice H2 you will like it DONT sell it you WILL regret it. Trust me Ive done and now Im back again. H2's will be the next first generation Bronco's. Someone will always build parts for us to upgrade to.

Well as long as there is an engine that will fit and tranni that will work a welder that will help keep its shape and look ... I will drive a hummer. Just my way of saying screw you Hummer haters. You may have stopped building them but they will live on forever.
