Re: Removable Doors
i was looking at hinges from the old school broncos. i called the shop up and they said those doors normally weigh around 80-90 lbs. im not exactly sure how much h2 doors weigh, but i think i am going to attempt this.....i expect alot of damage before any good comes out.

Re: Removable Doors
Heck, you only live once,...am I right or am I right.
Canada is an awesome country landscape wise. Hockey kicks butt. But Regs and bleeding hearts hurt the appeal. (Not to mention the 8 ft of snow a day),
You should move to America where regulation is less, there is little crime, little illegal aliens, oh and you are a free man just like the framers wanted. Oh, wait, ... We are the Country who has just raised her skirt and given its virtue away to anyone that may get offended by our Constitution. Crazy how this whole thing works. But atleast I still have my H2 and Beowulf.

Re: Removable Doors
Yeah, driving without doors poses no danger to other drivers, whereas some other practices, which are perfectly "legal", go unhindered. Like little ol' ladies who can't even turn their head when reversing out of a parking space.
I was pulled over last year in my Jeep, because the tires were too far out and the lift was too high. So I had to get a VI (vehicle inspection), which meant putting wider fenders on and lowering the lift, then putting everything back again after the inspection. What a pain

Re: Removable Doors
I have seen this done on an h3 and in IMO it was not that good looking. The door jams looked pretty bad.

Re: Removable Doors
Maybe you could make a filler kit for the ajms. That, with some half doors...SWEET. Rip that top off there and put in a full roll cage like a jeep. Im buying a 2003-2005 and doing it.

I'd be interested in following your progress on this. I had a thread last summer asking the same: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...t=remove+doors ...but the conversation didn't go far.
I ultimately decided that I'd prolly do it if there was a 'kit' or a proven, documented, illustrated outline of how to do it. Even then I'd only take them off if I was going for a real off-road run. Keeping them off for any period of time would worry me too much...especially with all the granola-eating, tree-hugging, passive-aggressive whiner-babies in the MD/DC area. Someone would probably drop a big ole, GREEN, fiber-rich steamer on my driver's seat then set the inside of the truck ablaze.
...that would be a bad day.
