Re: Considering trade H2 for 2013 Explorer Sport
I went through that urge a year ago. I drove the Raptor and the ride was much too stiff for me. I drove the X5 intercooled twin turbo and loved the way it drove and almost traded for it because I don't go offroad or through the creek much anymore. The Tahoe was Ok, but the interior looked cheap, and the outside mirrors didn't work on a brand new car, anyway they are everywhere around here and I still have a thing about buying a GM product (Corvettes excluded) after what they did to the Hummer Brand. I liked the Grand Cherokee a lot, but it doesn't have the room or ride of the H2. The new Explorer is nice, but Consumers Reports is not big on their reliability. In the mall parking lots you see lots of SUVs but not many H2s anymore, so the H2 still sits in the garage. My next SUV........................probably a low mileage 2008 or '09 H2.

Re: Considering trade H2 for 2013 Explorer Sport
Giant,
Your last question would depend on the year, make, condition and options... but of course this is known already.
Just understand I bought my about 1.5 years ago and it is a 2003 and had just over 100k on it. The A/C didnt work at the time of purchase, but everything else did.
It has all the grills and guards, plus sunroof, power everything, OnStar, basically the only thing it doesnt have is the exterior rear spare tire holder.
I paid about 20-21k at a dealer with my trade in.
At the time that was about the average price for one with everything.
Of course, now someone said that the prices have gone up a little bit.
But I would say that if you bring it to a dealer to trade in for another vehicle... screw them as much as possible!
Basically set a price in your head that you would need to get for the HUMMER and then stick too it. I have become very good over the years in buying cars, and you need to remember that they need your money more then you need that car. As determined as I was to buy my Hummer, I still dragged out the negotiations for about 4-5 weeks. I feel I probably could have gotten a better deal on my Hummer if i would have pushed just a little harder but thats past tense. I would make them work to get you out of that Hummer. Remember car sales are down, the economy sucks... and they are sitting on something that wont pay the bills.... until they sell it and then get the cash. Cash is King :-)

Re: Considering trade H2 for 2013 Explorer Sport
My son and his wife have an Explorer Sport and they like it very much! I also plan on keeping my H2 until it starts giving me mechanical fits, then I will ALSO start looking for an under 35,000 miles H2.

I see prices all over the board on an 05 lux? We really maintained ours! Yesterday we drove an 08 at a BMW dealer. Different drive train and electrics from our 05 H2. We liked it a bunch but it was a trade in and the chunk and under carriage was pretty rusted from the boat ramp. Our 05 is pristine so no go. Think I am going for the trade on the Explorer Sport as long as the dealer is fair.
