Visited the Deadwood Cemetery yesterday and saw Buffalo Bill's grave. A short area by Hot Springs with 12" of water on the road was no problem for the H2 and the highway patrol let us through while they held others. Making a slight change in our itinerary to visit Yellowstone to appease my other half, although I know it's going to be crowded.

We bypassed Yellowstone and went straight to Grand Teton National Park, since neither one of us had ever been here before. One word - BREATHTAKING! Had a problem getting a room, so we broke out the tent, but spent most of the night in the Hummer. We met another couple in an H2 from Canmore, Alberta and they said the flooding has subsided in Calgary and Banff was untouched by it all, so we are back to our original itinerary up through Clagary and Banff as we head north. On this mountainous leg we averaged 10.8 mpg in the H2.

Grand Teton Park was great, but crowded. There was a backup crossing into Canada at customs that took us two hours. We made it to Banff and the Banff Springs Lodge. I could stay here forever, with gorgeous views out of every window. The elk and moose are everywhere here and you have to be very careful driving to avoid the wildlife. We have yet to see a bear, which is just fine with me.
Met a retired couple here from New Mexico that are going to Homer, Alaska in an RV and they've estimated it will take them 5000 gallons to get there and back. He's a retired airline pilot and his wife loves driving the RV so they take turns at the wheel. Met an interesting couple from Eagle, Alaska that invited us for dinner if we make it that far. The Hummer has run great with 2800 miles down and 2300? to go before we head back in August.

Got to play golf here in Banff yesterday in perfect weather. Yes, that shot sliced into the water If you like golf, you'd love Banff. I was told you can crop and resize your pics on your IPhone, but I'm having problems with that. We are heading out to Lake Louise tomorrow and then up to Whitehorse. So far the weather has been great.

We made it to Dawson City in the Yukon and the scenery has been incredible. This is the high season up here and tourists are so plentiful we had a hard time finding a hotel room. The rest of the Yukon has been just the opposite with not even a another vehicle for miles. We stayed at a mom and pop hotel 300 miles south of here two nights ago and the mosquitoes were as thick as the black flies in Maine in the summer. By far you will find some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet in the Yukon. Everyone drives some kind of 4X4 SUV or pickup up here. Milly is a RCMP, originally from Whitiehorse, and we talked roads and four wheeling yesterday in Dawson and the best route to Eagle. Having a ball!
