Re: Will Air Suspension strand me?
We are enjoying Anchorage at the Captain Cook Hotel. A very nice hotel with great blackout curtains for that summer extended daylight up here. The H2 has run great without a single hiccup except for a chipped windshield. We are 6033 miles into our adventure and tomorrow I'm taking the H2 to a fast lube place for an oil change. The H2 is a VERY comfortable road trip vehicle and I hope to post some pictures of the H2 on A1 as we head to Homer, AK, 247 miles to the West. They say this stretch of A-1 is one of the most beautiful drives of any highway in the US. We could take the ferry, but we want to enjoy the drive instead.
Gas prices in Anchorage are some of the most expensive on this trip at $4.09 a gallon for regular. I haven't reset the lie-o-meter since we left NY and it says we're averaging 12.8 mpg - not bad. This reminds me a little of those old days, because Hummers still draw attention in Alaska. We've seen a lot of lifted H3s in Anchorage. I can't even tell you how many offers we've had to buy the H2 between the Yukon and here!

Re: Will Air Suspension strand me?
Homer is GORGEOUS! We love it here. There are moose everywhere here, more than in the Yukon where we saw at least a dozen and got lots of road warnings! It's not like with the deer at dusk and dawn, the moose or out on the road all times of day here and in town too. We've literally seen 50 bald eagles in the last two days. Not a real great Internet connection - reminds me of the old phone modem days.
I wish I had Egan's gobi racks before we left!

Re: Will Air Suspension strand me?
We have FINALLY returned home, although without the H2, and had a WONDERFUL TIME. The Hummer ran perfectly for all 6900 miles up to Sitka. We took the H2 on the car ferry up to Sitka and really enjoyed the ferry trip. We had lots of rain in Sitka and then my wife came down with appendicitis which the doctors told me is very rare for someone of her older age. She had pains in her side for several days and then the fever set in. The care at the Sitka Community Hospital was excellent and she was back on her feet and ready to go again in four days.
While in Sitka one of the doctors made me an offer on the 2006 H2 SUT that I couldn't refuse. $30,000, or double the kbb private party price for a 168000 mile 2006 Hummer. I must say I take good care of my cars and it had new BF Goodrich tires on it when we left. I also had the front seats recovered last year. I didn't see any other H2s in Sitka while I was waiting for my wife to recover. We had lots of rain while we were in Sitka and when a cruise ship comes in, the town is flooded with people.
This was the trip of a lifetime and the people in the Yukon and in Sitka are the nicest people I have met anywhere. Having an H2 made it easy to get to some out of the way places like Chicken and Eagle, Alaska. Finding gas was never a problem. With the money we covered a lot of our expenses and the cost of the two tickets home from Sitka, plus I have enough left over to look for another H2. I'm in negotiations right now with an individual with a low mileage 2008 in Leesburg , Florida and hope to pull the trigger and fly down, look at it, and bring it home next week.

Your trip sounds like it was an epic trek adventure!
So glad to know your wife has recovered and glad to hear everything worked out on selling your old deuce. Good luck on the 08! Definitely want to see pics

Re: Will Air Suspension strand me?
Sounds like you had a great trip and glad your wife is OK! It literally pays to take good care of your vehicles. I was at the ballpark with an old Hummer dealer this spring and he said the biggest demand for Hummers was overseas and in Alaska. I want to see that new H2 when you get it.
