Hi,

I'm a new member to this forum and I am glad to see that there is a great forum out here for hummer owners. I have had my H2 for a little over 2 years now and I have had this problem with my H2 being stuck in park 3 times now. The shift lever button will not push in and the car is truly dead where it lies until a tow truck comes and picks it up. I was told that there is a wire under the console that is coming off and causing it not to release. I could understand how this could happen once, when it happened twice I wasn't very pleased. Now for the third time and the vehicle is stuck in my garage I am pissed. Has anyone else run into this problem? I could be stuck 200 miles from nowhere and have this happen.
There is a shift interlock that releases only when you press the brake pedal. (I assume you are pressing the brake to put it in gear). You can take a smaller allen wrench (I don't remember the size) and loosen the allen screw that's in the hole on the front side of the shifter. The shifter will then slide up and off.

The cup holder plastic assembly can then be taken off to get access to these wires. I'll try to post some pics.
