I'm not sure how GM considers it a good design especially if damage could occur when the vehicle is restarted. Maybe the wipers should electrically default to a “full off” state until the wiper switch is moved after re-start.

If the wiper is switched to "on" it would be a stupid design for it to be "off" if the switch was "on" regardless. To suggest that the wiper should stay off after ignition is cut and stay off until the wiper switch is moved again, is.... well... dumb. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
NO, dumb is having your wipers destroyed under this condition. I didn’t see anywhere in the owners manual that gave instructions to “park” your wipers anytime you “park” your vehicle while it’s raining.

Since you're such the expert - suggest a corrective solution.
